Week 2 consultation reflection, no.1

Tutor Tom :- consider to reduce the splash of the condiment, when dispensed from the container. Prevent that splash so there will be no cause of mess, e.g. tomato sauce containers are capable of that. And it is best the packaging is free of frustration for an arthritis person - to clean, so investigate appropriate enclosure design for that cause. Research on which plastic materials to achieve your solution on collapsible and retaining form container.

Peer 1, Richard Trajcevski - is agreeable with concept-1-honey packaging. Richard say, "the squeezable/collapsible soft plastic of the honey container is a design that can benefit other sauce and condiment packaging"

- because the design may be able to minimise fatigue level and reduce the need for more hand strength to dispense.

Peer 2, Felicia Levina - consider the honey can have high level of viscosity and are sticky, so dispensing a honey from the container can be hard. Especially trying to get the honey that are stuck to the bottom of the container. Concept 3-insect-spray, existing product have triggers that can require a lot of finger strength to press. "I need my two hands to use the spray, because my finger does not have the strength to press the trigger"

Other tutor Scott - the good packaging is of course suppose to be accessible, easy to open for the intended user. And is also important the packaging can be closed after use. Make sure the design address your one-main issue so your project will have a very strong solution to solve your researched issue.

Reflection - I've decided to work on concept-1, the honey container, which is also a suggestion from my tutor and peers. For this week I will look into ways to prevent the splash and drip from the container, research into what plastic materials the could be suitable for the design. Thorough research on other types of enclosures of existing products. And think about the characteristics of the honey, especially its stickiness and high viscosity that can proved to be difficult to dispense from the container. I will also begin blu foam modelling to discover the appropriate size of the container, and consider the ergonomically hand length and size, for the hold of the container.
