The below design is a storage system to house electronic devices and also a batter-charge-station.
There are three compartments to this solution each with different dimensions to suit the type of products. For example,
the bottom compartment has the smallest width, but has the largest depth, so this compartment is ideal for flat and large devices, such as tablets like Ipad, game consoles of PSP and Nintendo DS.
The Middle section is slightly bigger, and is suitable for mobile-smart phone and media player (ipods) storage. And there is a separator that can easily fit many kinds of mobile phones of different dimensions to have them stand against the surface, to increase space efficiency.
The top section is suitable for medium to larger items such as camera recorder and digital cameras with their accessories such as lens, battery adapter, cables, etc.
This storage uses wireless mode and receivers are required for charging the device. The receivers are inserted into devices, and then the device can be placed on any surface of the station for charging.
The electro mat covers a very large surface within the storage system to allow efficient energy supply.
I plan to use HDPE plastic because of the resistance, durability and strength which I find ideal for the outer shell for this design, and it is also recyclable and so is a sustainable resource.
Manufacturing processes could be to mould the HDPE to form the organic shape and the different compartments can be welded together to create the who design form.
A thin layer of mat-material is applied so it can allow transfer of electrical between the storage in the device.
Every kind of electronic device have its own dimension and are different towards other brand and models. Different dimensions of devices have been considered in this design.
Rationale : In my project I want to signify the function of cells (in plant and animal) that can inspire biomimetic and biomorphic principles in product designs. Cells are well evolved from their primitive form (prokaryotes) that they conduct efficient daily activities to maintain the life of an organism.
The special feature that makes the cell efficient with what they do, are the thin-permeable-membranes and increase surface-area.
A cell that contains a mass of folded-thin membranes and as well as remaining a small capacity unit, will run more efficient compared to a cell that is large in volume with simple-membrane folds.
This is because a cell with increased surface-area will exchange more nutrients.
Not just body or plant cells use this feature of surface area to increase efficiency, but you may see the obvious, in large birds with larger wings and so with more surface area they can travel further, faster and stay air-borne longer; or the webbings in a frog's leg, the increase surface helps the animal to swim more effectively with less energy usage.
So for my design I am inspired by the features of the cell. I want to design a solution for users who are frustrated with the mess of cables when charging their personal electronics, and to help them keep all their electronics in a suitable place.
So I design a storage solution for carrying mobile phone, smart phone, tablet (e.g. Ipad), cameras, media players (e.g. Ipod).
I want to design a storage that can hold most of the user’s electronics in one location, that may prove to be useful for the user, where they can find and place all their electronics in one allocated safe place.
The Mitochondria of a cell generates ATP energy to boost the function of cells. So a storage that can become a battery-charging dock for these electronics will answer to the cable mess problem, by the employ of wireless charging to omit the use of cables to minimise the taking of space by adapters and battery charges.
Electronic devices will be placed near a movable receiver help it stay connected to the charging-dock.
This storage solution attempts to meet every user’s needs with storying and battery-charging their electronics. As different users will keep different kinds and types of technology at home, e.g. game consoles of NDS and PSP, Ipads or Samsung Galaxy tablets; so that spaces are increased in the storage by using the principles of increasing surface area.
The use of thin walls in the storage system is to mimic one of the features of the cell to increase efficiency in recharging electronics.
Sustainable materials that has been considered for such production, are timber, bamboo, recycled rubber, and recycled metals.
My design hopes to answer to those who live in medium-high density areas, where storage-spaces can become limited with accumulation of possessions.
A wireless-charging-dock- that resembles a plant cell in features, function, form, and so my design will remain at a dimension of 300 x 300 x 200 mm, which may become a space efficient storage solution, and either hanging or standing, to save space location in homes.

This concept is quite unique and is interesting, i like how the function doubles up as a storage system for electronics as well as a charging station. The curved shape and the green colour makes your design very inviting and interactive. To improve you could have made the base a bit bigger and make the whole design look more stable since it seems like it could move around a lot and maybe even fall over.
I like the cell idea of this concept, not much design on the market are inspired by cells. The finish on the model looks really fine and attractive.
Also the wireless charge system would be the key that I will make me buy this product. The wire system will be so convience, and I will never have lose wired hanging around any more.
Maybe I little bit more development on the sorts, but other than that its a nice design.
I like your concept! the biological stuffs is quite interesting to know and the shape of the stroage is quite cool too. However, some how it look a bit too weak? since it is storage i think it should be looks more strong and hard. The colour of this model is a bit too bright i think. i think it should be look better with cooler colours.
I really like your concept and how you've incorporate the plant cells into the electronic storage. I love the green colour because i think it adds the fun and the 'boy' characteristics into it which makes it more appealing :) i agree with Dong Wook though, maybe if you use thicker materials it would make your storage looks stronger especially because you store electronics :) but overall great job! keep up the good works!
i really like the idea of basing it on a cell. the form is quite simple but very effective. maybe for improvement you could have it a bit more open so it could be easier to get the items.
